Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia has been reportedly transferred early today (at 1am) at the Philippine Heart Center after being treated at the Makati Medical Center.

It was earlier reported that the Eraserheads concert got cut short after Ely collapsed and was rushed to the Makati Med. Ely is said to be resting now to recover from stress and exhaustion.

Sen is the latest PDA scholar to be expelled from the Pinoy Dream Academy. He got only 45.42% while Van got 54.58%.

His expulsion made official the list of the top six PDA scholars namely: Liezel, Bugoy, Laarni, Miguel, Cris, and Van. The scholars also launched their first album, “Scholars Sing Cayabyab” during the 11th Gala Performance Night.

Philvolcs announced that there were 11 volcanic earthquakes recorded on August 29, 2008 surrounding Taal Volcano in Batangas. It was then placed the area surrounding the Volcano to Alert Level 1 as smoke possible toxic gas were seen coming out. At the moment there are still no eruption going on  from the said volcano.

Ely Buendia, the frontman of Eraserheads, collapsed in the middle of their reunion concert held tonight at the Fort Bonifacio Grounds, Taguig City.

According to attending doctors, Ely suffered from over-fatigued. His previous heart attack and surgery may have added to the conditions. He is stable now and recuperating at the Makati Medical Center.

The concert was supposed to be 30-song long but was cut short because of the emergency.

Nietes stablemate and compatriot Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista scored an equally impressive knockout win over Mexican Eden Marquez.

Bautista sized up Marquez in the opening round by backing up and trying to work on his defense and counterpunching skills. In the second round Bautista (26-1, 19 KOs) decided to slug it out and caught Marquez (16-4-3, 12 KO’s) with left hook that floored the Mexican.

Marquez was able to beat the count but was later on floored for good by Bautista with a combination. Official time, 1:08 of the second round.

Bautista also keeps his WBO Intercontinental superbantamweight crown.

Failure in governance gave birth to the MILF. Vested interests, stupidity and deceit produced the MOA-AD with MILF. The MOA-AD resulted in the present bloody and costly Mindanao conflict.

RA 8371 entitled “The Indigenous Peoples Rights Act of 1997″ recognized the AD problem and prescribed measures to address it. Because of its dismal implementation by both ERAP and Gloria tribal groups continued to be the embodiment of government neglect or apathy. MILF expressed tribal unrest more harshly than the rest.

Hearings by the Supreme Court showed that the MOA-AD is indefensible. The Solicitor General defends said MOA by saying that the government is abandoning it. It was exposed as plain stupidity or recklessness, but some see it as a veiled attempt to bring about a cha-cha that would make way for Gloria’s extension of term. Displaced families could sue her for damages, if she is no longer immune from suit.

The MILF saw the MOA-AD as a sign of weakness of the government. Why else would it agree to a virtual sell-out? So, it or its lost command, sowed terror hoping that the government would be cowed further into submission. It failed to reckon with a determined military that acted even before the dazed Supreme Commander could issue the command.

Another failure in governance gave rise to a determined group who offer federalism as a permanent solution to the conflict. It is its way of saying that Local Autonomy failed. It did not bother to see why it failed, and what could possibly be done to make it work. It simply issued an invitation to an expensive and dangerous exercise in futility. There is no way voters would approve of more Senators, Congressmen and bureaucracy.

Federalism promises to solve the AD problem by complicating it! The system would integrate two or more indigenous people in a State, and then start thinking of ways to attend to it. It would abandon a simple and doable procedure in favor of a solution that has yet to be studied and legitimized!

The short term remedy would be to run after the criminals and maintain peace and order. The long-term process is to go to individual tribes and attend to their problems guided by RA 8371. An act of genuine concern for the welfare of the less privileged will never be too late particularly since it would also benefits other adjoining communities and groups of people. Also, divide and rule.

Sam Milby will star in Cul De Sac. Its an Indie Film to be directed by Juan Miguel Sevilla and produce by  Smart and Cinemabuhay Productions.  Main Cast includes Albert Martinez, Jodi Sta. Maria and Chin Chin Gutierrez.

Manny Pacquiao next fight will be on December 6, 2008 against Oscar de La Hoya. The match will be in the welterweight division which mean our pambasang kamao needs to add some weight to reach the division while De La Hoya needs to slim down.
