Starbucks Coffee has recently announced that it will be shutting down close to 600 branches.

This is mostly due to the economic times and the high cost of fuel. Starbucks management feels that in these slow economic times, most people would not pay $5 for a cup of coffee. Employees and baristas will be relocated to other branches for possible employment.
