President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo is set to have her state visit again after she went to Libya a week ago. The President is scheduled to leave again next week for London, Saudi Arabia and New York this coming Sept. 17 to 26. She is also set to have a state visit in Saudi Arabia and New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly. LPG Marketers Association takes another price adjustment as they increase their A P1 autogas effective today. According to LPGMA president Arnel Ty, the price increase took effect earlier at 6 a.m. Autogas is an LPG-based vehicle fuel that is primarily fed to especially converted taxis. LPGMA explained that they needed to recover P2.20 in terms of their retail price for autogas. Petron Corp. also increased its autogas price last wednesday by P1.41 per liter. The fuel currently retails between P22 and P23. On the other hand, Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes told LPG retailers to stop making premature announcements regarding price hikes, saying that it could do more harm than good.

Injunction issued by Mandaluyong City court stopping the sale of “Ginebra Kapitan” gin products was voided by the Supreme Court. They also directed the Mandaluyong RTC Branch 214 to “continue expeditiously” with the trial of the intellectual property case filed by Ginebra San Miguel, Inc. against Tanduay Distillers, Inc. for the use of “Ginebra” on its products. The case stemmed from Tanduay’s creation in 2002 of a new gin product called “Ginebra Kapitan.” Tanduay argued that it has been producing gin products under the brand names Ginebra 65, Ginebra Matador, and Ginebra Toro without any complaint from San Miguel. However, San Miguel claimed that the word “Ginebra” does not simply indicate a kind of beverage as it was synonymous with San Miguel’s gin products.

Shell Philippine made another price marked-up to their LPG Products. Effective today, Shell LPG Prices is now P1.40 per kilogram. Bobby Kanapi, Shell’s Vice president for Communication confirmed the said price adjustment as their response for the price marked-up made by Petron Corporation.

SeaOil Philippines last night increased prices of auto gas by P3. Now, its total price is P21 per liter. Seaoil implemented the price adjustment a day after Pilipinas Shell, Petron Corp. and Total Philippines increased their cooking gas price by P3 per kilo. Auto gas is an LPG-based fuel used by taxis with converted engines. It is seen as a cheaper alternative to gasoline that’s why most of the autos with converted engines used it. Meanwhile, the LPG marked down its prices to P1.25 per liter.
