“Hoodlum Terminator” and retired police colonel Alfonso “Boyong” Mañalac died of heart attack at the Manila Central University last Sunday. Boyong was a former Malabon police chief before he became a city councilor of Malabon. His exploits in the police service was shown in the movie titled, “Boyong Mañalac, Hoodlum Terminator” topbilled by veteran actor Eddie Garcia in the ‘80s. His colorful career in the police service somehow suffered with the killing of his son, Marlon, whose death became controversial after several policemen were tagged in the murder. Manalac’s remains lies at Floresco Funeral Homes in Tugatog, Malabon. Our deepest condolences.
The whole Iglesia Ni Kristo Family joined with Executive Minister Eraño “Ka Erdy” G. Manalo as he was temporarily laid to rest at the Tabernacle inside the compound of the INC Central Temple. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and other Politicians attended the said funeral rites to pay their last respect for the INC Executive Minister. Ka Erdy died last Monday of cardiopulmonary arrest at his home in Quezon City at the age of 84, survived by his wife Cristina, INC Deputy Executive Minister Eduardo, Felix Nathaniel and Marco Eraño, and daughters Lolita, Erlinda and Liberty. We are praying for the eternal repose of his soul.
King of Pop Michael Jackson is about to be laid to rest in a private ceremony at a star-studded Forest Lawn Cemetery. The ceremony will be held Thursday ( U.S. Time ), Friday ( Philippine Time ) together with his family and friends. Two months after Jackson’s sudden death last June 25, mourners will gather for a sunset service in a mausoleum at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park, a home of celebrity graves. Neighborhood surrounding the cemetery’s entrance would be on lockdown to ensure the privacy and solemnity of the burial rites. The King of Pop will be interred inside Forest Lawn’s Great Mausoleum, an elaborate neo-classical building inspired by Genoa’s famous Campo Santo. He will be placed in a private section of the crypt that is also home to the final resting places of famous names from Hollywood celebrities.
As the whole Iglesia Ni Kristo mourns for the passing of its Executive Head, Brother Erano ” Ka Erdy ” Manalo, President Arroyo joined Iglesia ni Cristo members in mourning the death of their leader whom she described as someone who provided hope to all Filipinos. She made a visit yesterday according to Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita. President Arroyo will also issue a proclamation honoring Manalo as the details were still unknown as of press time. Meanwhile, Proclamation No. 1869, declaring Sept. 12 as the national day of prayer for peace and sanctification of spiritual leaders was released yesterday.
Veteran Comedian and Director Rudy Meyer succumbed from cancer yesterday, August 31. The announcement was made by his friend in the industry, Direk Kaka Balagtas. Meyer was a former PAGCOR Commisioner during the term of President Joseph Estrada. He had also been close to the late King of Philippine movies Fernando Poe Jr. and made several movies with him. He also served as a board member of the Directors Guild of the Philippines Inc. Meyer has known for his famous tagline ” weather weather lang yan “. Our deepest condolences.

Eraño Manalo, the leader of the Iglesia Ni Kristo has died yesterday according to their own television network Net 25. Also known as Ka Erdy, he is the current Executive Minister of the Iglesia ni Cristo religious organization. He took over the administration of the church after the death of his father, Felix Manalo, in 1963. He was instrumental in the propagation and expansion of the church internationally. He previously held office as the General Treasurer of the church, and as a District Minister of Manila. The religious leader died of cardiopulmonary arrest on his home at at 3:53 p.m., August 31 according to his doctor Rey Melchor Santos. INC spokesman Bienvenido Santiago said the church leader will be interred at the Templo Sentral of the INC in Quezon City and will be open for public viewing today. Our deepest condolences.
Kennely Ann Lacia-Binay also known as Audrey Vizcarra of ABS-CBN Starmagic was finally laid to rest yesterday. The cremation was held at the Heritage Park in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig. Kennely was the wife of Makati City Councilor Jejomar Erwin Binay Jr. The funeral rites was attended by their close friends and relatives including those in politics like former ambassador Ernesto Maceda, Rep. Teddy Boy Locsin and Joey De Venecia III. Kennely died last August 11 due to complications after giving birth to their fourth child. She was survived by her children Jejomarie Alexi, Maria Isabel, Jejomar III and her newborn, Maria Kennely, who remains at the Makati Medical Center. Meanwhile, Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay thanked all those who sympathized and joined them with their family in their time of grief.

Today marks the final rites for the Late Mother of Democracy, former President Cory Aquino. She will be laid beside her husband, Senator Ninoy Aquino at the Manila Memorial Park in Sucat Paranaque. She could have been gone physically, but the legacy she inculcated in everyone of us must continue from generations to generations. We must all be vigilant of what is happening to our country and stand up for what we think is right. As the nation mourns for the loss of former President Cory Aquino, Malacanang, in commemoration for her, has ordered that August 5 will be a special non-working holiday as the former President will be on her final rest that day. She will be buried beside her husband, Senator Ninoy Aquino at the Manila Memorial Park in a private funeral rites.
