Scholar Christian is expeled from the Pinoy Dream Academy tonight. Inaki then, completes the Maestro List of Ten. It’s also announced that an honorary scholar will be joining the scholars, Poy of Zamboanga. Poy, being an honorary scholar, could be a regular scholar if she gets to beat the scholar during the gala performances (where she would win PhP50,000.00).

Trio in PDA Tonight

It’s going to be trio in the gala performance in Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 tonight. In preparation for it, the scholars went through a series of training in dance, theater, and of course voice. Lea Navarro also guested, to give pointers on how the scholars could relate themselves to the audience.

Surviving Evil with Joel Torre

Veteran actor Joel Torre shares with ABS-CBN that he has just finished shooting a film in Africa, a horror film entitled, “Surviving Evil”. Joel is the only Filipino cast in the film, where he acted side-by-side the likes of Billy Zane (from Titanic).

Surviving Evil is directed by Terence Daw.

NAIA-3 International Flights

The Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 (NAIA-3) will have its international flights this August 1, as Cebu Pacific moves both its local and international operations to the site.

Cebu Pacific currently flies to 40 destinations, 24 domestic and 16 international.

Nursing Board Exam Result June 2008

The results of the June 2008 Nursing Board Exams are now out and we have a list of exam passers straight from PRC.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announces that 27,765 out of 64,459 passed the Nurse (First Timers, Repeaters, Removals) Licensure Examination given by the Board of Nursing in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legazpi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga last June 2008.

The result of examination with respect to one (1) examinee was withheld pending final determination of her liabilities under the rules and regulations governing licensure examinations.

Gary Valenciano visits the Scholars

Gary Valenciano visited the scholars of the Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2, and imparted with them a few important lessons in singing and in life, sharing to them the value of expressing than trying to impress.

Mr. Pure Energy also performed two songs: Shake it Off (with Uberture host Billie Crawford dancing along), and the remix version of Shout for Joy.

Comedy King Dolphy celebrates his 80th birthday by launching his memoirs, the book “Dolphy, Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-isa”. The bio is published by Kaizz Ventures, and was launched last Wednesday at the NBC Tent at The Fort.

PDA Scholar Bunny Hyperventilates

Scholar Bunny of Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2 was rushed to the hospital after compalining of dizziness and some facial tension. She was diagnosed to have had a hyperventilation attack. Earlier presumption of her being pregnant has been disregarded.

It will be remembered that Bunny’s husband, Chivas, got an automatic expulsion from the Academy for cases of hyperventilation and anxiety attacks.

The Dark Knight Earnings

The much-anticipated “Batman” movie, The Dark Knight, earned a massive PhP62.6 million (July 17 to 20 weekend period), as announced by Warned Brothers (FE) Inc. General Manager Francis Soliven.

The Dark Knight opened in 92 theaters locally. GMA News reports the following theaters as having amassed the highest ticket sales: Trinoma (P3.91 million), SM Mall of Asia (P3.17 million), Glorietta 4 (P2.65 million), Greenbelt 3 (P2.54 million), IMAX (P2.44 million), Power Plant (P2.41 million), SM Megamall (P2.36 million), SM North EDSA (P2.16 million), Eastwood (P2.07 million), and Gateway (P2.04 million).

CherryPal: 2 Watts of Power

The CherryPal “cloud computer,” announced on Monday, which looks more like a thin client, uses only 2 watts of power at maximum usage, 97 percent less than typical desktops, the company claimed. Priced at US$249, the system includes a Freescale processor running at 400MHz, 256M bytes of RAM and 4G bytes of internal flash storage. It comes with the OpenOffice suite and the Firefox Web browser. By comparison, Asus Eee PC mini-notebooks have at least an 800GHz Intel Celeron processor, 512M bytes of RAM and 2G bytes of flash storage for about $300.
