Warcraft 3 and My BattleNet Experience
By : Nerbie
Date: August 17, 2002

I've played in the battle.net before. The difference is that during those times I had a slow personal computer and with a 33.6 Internet connection. Most of the time the game starter boots me out. I know it is because of my slow Internet connection and PC. If I get lucky some players still play with me. Maybe they have a slow PC too. With today's technology and the new kind of strategy games, I enjoyed more. Who will not have fun when you have a faster Internet connection, better and more advanced type of games to play head to head with someone across the country? It's like fighting for your own city or playing hero against the invasion of an alien fleet.

To go more detailed on my game play experiences from Battle.net, let us start with requirements and the specification of the game. I only have Pentuim 3-550mhz with 128MB RAM, 32MB Video card, DSL internet connection and of course a ORIGINAL WARCRAFT 3 game CD. You need this because battle.net checks for your serial number. It should be unique or else you will be booted out once the system sees that someone who uses the same serial number is or was already online before you did. Then Install it, register your nick, and you are set to go. Once you are inside all you have to do is select the type of game and map you want. Me, I always play the one vs one game. Then, their system will look for your opponent. That's it! It's game time and start building your name and aim to be number one.

To maximize my gaming experience, I usually chat with my opponent and ask him where he is from. So far, I was able to play with some Korean and American players. Well, it would also vary which server you entered. It could be ASIA, East Coast (US), West Coast(US) and other BattleNET servers. As much as possible I try to remember the nick of those players whom I played with because we might meet again. At least I know what was his game play style. You see WarCraft is not just a game of strategy; it is also a game of player flexibility or the ability to adjust his game technique based on the opponent's game style. That's why I love playing games like this. You have a lot of things, strategies and techniques to learn. Imagine this, you will be playing with other nationalities. You don't even see how they play at the computer rental cafe here in the Philippines. That would increase the enjoyment for each WarCraft player. I should be going.. see you at the battle.net!
