Executive Secretary Eduardo Ermita and PNRC Chairman Sen. Richard Gordon discussed the Senator’s proposal to give amnesty to the Abu Sayyaf as part of a long-term process to bring peace in Mindanao. Meanwhile Eugenio Vagni, the kidnapped victim of ICRC has already forgiven the Abu Sayyaf after being held in captivity for almost 6 months. Vagni said it was up to the government to decide if it wanted to pursue the Abu Sayyaf bandits responsible for a series of kidnappings and beheadings in recent years but added that hope should not die in that part of the world. He is also willing to support Gordon’s proposal to provide the amnesty.
