Every year, we’ve been waiting for the speech of our President as she delivers her State of the Nation Address, but some fashion enthusiasts also look forward to see what’s the latest fashion statement that the people in Congress is about to wear. President GMA wore a magenta terno gown made by Inno Sotto. It is from native silk of the Misamis Oriental in Mindanao and pineapple fiber from Aklan. Sen. Loren Legarda surprised the public as she wore a pink gown designed by Paul Cabral. A Mindanao- inspired pink gown with a bareback design that became a head turn by her colleagues. Sen. Pia Cayetano was in a modern terno designed by Mia Urquico. She wore a black and white ruffled gown, also revealing a bare back. She also said that the gown she wore express that everything should be in black and white, nothing in the middle. Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago was in a simple two-piece beige gown that she is wearing for almost ten years now. Sen. Jamby Madrigal was in a Modified green Maria Clara Terno as it were also her campaign color. Meanwhile, Gabriela Rep. Liza Maza appeared in a beaded gown, hand-painted with the President’s image and embroidered with the word con-ass made of a katsa cloth ( flour sack ) and handpainted by social realism artist Boy Dominguez. The gown, according to her the gown represents the real state of the nation. Truly, its not just a State of the Nation Address but also a Fashion State of this year as it also represents different expressions of themselves in public.
