Apple/Steve Jobs announced today that the new iPhone 3G will be available in the Philippines this July of 2008. Globe Telecom will be the exclusive reseller of the Apple iPhone 3G.

Prices starts at $199 for the 8GB model and $299 for the 16GB model. Specs include GPS, HSDPA, Wi-Fi, and EDGE capability.
“We are very excited to be working with Apple to bring Filipino consumers iPhone 3G later this year,” said Gerardo C. Ablaza, Jr. president and CEO of Globe Telecom. “Our customers are our greatest passion and we’re constantly striving to offer them the most innovative products such as the revolutionary iPhone 3G.”
“We are thrilled to bring iPhone 3G to millions of mobile customers in the Philippines,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s COO. “We can’t wait to get this revolutionary mobile device in the hands of even more people around the world.”
iPhone 3G will be available to Globe’s postpaid and prepaid subscribers in the Philippines later this year.

woohoo!! hope its enough for all of us.. lol
Is it real that it will jus cost around US$199? why that cheap? i just cant believe it! what if that i opt to buy 16G with a US$299 are there any hidden charge to it? will there be a big tax on it? I hope that i’ll have a reply with a complete, precise, accurate or exact price of it in terms of peso. Because I’m choosing whether to buy a Motorola E6, Motorola E8, or Ipod 3G.
I just cant wait!
Love Ipod! hmmm…

iPhone for $199? - sounds cheap….but let us see….
It sound cheap. Interesting, I wanna buy one, even the 16gb. Hope you could buy one for free via globe something something. that’s how my mom got her n73. i’ll tell my dad to get the iphone since he could get a new phone from globe since it’s 2 year beyond. haha! i hope so…
I already have the first iPhone version 1.1.4…the only difference is the 3G capability but i dont need it because i use Wi-Fi at home and in our office…I just hope Globe doesnt sell it too cheap..Otherwise il switch to an HTC touch Diamond instead…..The reason i bought one is because not everyone can afford it….
Reasons why iphone 3G is cheap:
1. It is old technology; moore’s law states that approx every 18 months, the number of transistors being placed on an IC doubles for the same price. in short, 2x power, price remains relatively the same.
There really isn’t much that changed on the new iphone; the significant improvements are just the GPS and the 3G, which is quite a standard technology already on smartphones today.
2. Price cut is already old news to apple consumers considering how deliberate apple is on releasing new hardware versions of its computers from macbook air to mac pro with the same price that it was previously released (apple please stop breaking our hearts) as steve jobs have stated after the first iphone price cut, “that’s the price you have to pay for new technology” so you have the option to buy it at a premium, or wait till the price drops but not without the “tech” value dropping with it.
3. Iphones released in the US are subsidized by ATnT, so we cant really expect to have something close to that price here in the philippines. maybe unless you are willing to hop on a 5K/mo platinum plan. sure thing is it isn’t impossible for a prepaid 16GB iphone 3G to reach Php 30K when released locally.
When exactly are they going to release it?
I am planning to buy an iPhone 16G now.
If they wil sel it this month, then I can wait.
PLeeeeeeeease let me know.
Thanks
samsung f700 is better than iphone 3g its the i phone killer thr samsung f700
yes, sounds cheap indeed. cant wait for the iphone 3g……
wen i get my iphone from australia do i hafta unlock it in greenhills? ive been researchin iphone thru d net en it says that there are hackers in greenhills hu could unlock it. please reply. cnt wait to hav it na.
@Tin:
as of the moment wala pang panghack sa 3g but lets get it a few days or weeks for sure meron na and the good thing even us can do the unlocking.. right now nasa mga beta stage pa yung mga testing ng panghack para sa 3g.. sa zibri pinakita na pwede nang gamitin yung 3g para sa globe using the beta hack. to get more info search mo ziphone or iphone iplus.. sila yung 2 na nagawa ng unlocker for iphone. ill give the link below kung pwede ipost dito
http://www.ziphone.org/
http://ipluspwns.blogspot.com/
fyi.
hhhhaaaaaiiiii….. kelan kya aq makakabili ng iphone 3G? meron n kaya ngaun d2 s pinas? san kaya at magkano? if any anyone knows kung san meron please txt me… 09173422681
note:If you have a 1.1.4 iphone never upgrade it to firware 2.0. It would possibly take ziphone to hack it maybe in just 2weeks or less but to perfect the unlocking matatagalan. Apple have learned alot from the previous iphone, they wont allow any jailbreak/unlock to happen just as easy as with the previous iphone.
my mom will be buying iphone 3g in the states? will i be able to use it here in the philippines using my sun or globe prepaid sim card?
hahaha! im planning to get this phone.. my mom agreed.. 299$ is cheap.. i know that price depends on what the currency and vat is.. so lets bet the 16gb model would be at 16k.. though i doubt that globe will not be the only one who will distribute the units.. i know it will be available at greenhills. that mall got everything you know? hehehe so it will be cheaper i guess.. lolz
to ipod v.2:
i guess if you buy the unit in the states it will be locked to at&t(provider) so you will need to hack it to use other networks..
just wait for globe to distribute it. you dont need to hack the philippine version of iphone 3g since you can do it using iTunes..
i guess one drawback for the iphone is texting.. well for me at least.. my hands kept pressing the wrong keys.. well a little adjustment wont hurt,, lolz
cant wait to buy one
its not cheap. you will see in the website that there is disclaimer. at&t will offer the 8GB for $199, but you need to subscribe to their service plan (2 years). same process will apply to other countries.

Peace
The fact is: the real price is not $199 nor $299. This price is for those who want to have a postpaid contract P2.000 to P3.000 a month. In case of prepaid alias buy iPhone without contract but still locked to Globe, its price will be $499 (P22.000) for 8Gb and $599 (P27.000) for 16GB. This how AT&T does in USA.
I saw an iphone 3g in a mall here in the philippines… and it costs 65,000k pesos…!!!! so much for 199$ huh! i saw an add, a black market seller selling it for 55,000k… ouch.. best guess is globe will release it close to 30k..
Cool! Ima go get one today!
haha, seems like this ‘ExplodingBoy’ is a poser! rich people doesn’t brag, no need! if i know, analog phone pa gamit mo no?hahaha!
para di OT, iphone 3g really is expensive, and please, magbasa ng mabuti, kaya nga me ‘*’ after $199 kasi you have to get the phone with a subscription from at&t… wait for the phone to be released, wag umasa sa mga conversion rates ek-ek, i’m sure yung mga prices na sinasabi nyo hindi yan yung price sa release…
globe is releasing iphone 3g this august 22. complete info about the plan and the price of the iphone
here’s the link. http://www1.globe.com.ph/feature.aspx?artid=113

i have a question!! if ever i will buy i phone 3g na postpaid in us!!! pwede ko ba ipa unlock un tapos gamitin na dito sa philippines using pre paid
you cant. besides its POSTPAID, meaning you’ll be paying for 2 years straight. equivalent to buying an iphone here in the philippines.

if i were you, make a reservation because i think they have “batches” for the iphone. i phoned globe a while ago regarding my “follow-up” reservation, they said, “yes sir, most probably kasama kayo sa first batch ng iphones.” i repeat.. THATS WHAT I THINK.

i made my reservation aug. 8. but then globe screwd up my reservation. so i made another resrvation via business center in alabang town center nung aug. 19. they will call tas sasabihin nila kung kelan mo makukuha ung iphone mo.
hope this helps.
GRABE NA TO !!!! SOBRA MAHAL NAMAN ANG GLOBE!!!! 200USD LANG SA US PERO DITO MORE THAN TWICE THE PRICE!!!!! ANO BA YAN.
MAAWA NAMAN KAYO, bawasan nyo naman yang presyo GLOBE!!!
gusto nyo bumaba ang prices ng mga bagong mobiles and pocket pc’s?? less interest in the product….means less demand …….then lower prices…..tapos bili na kayo!………….more hype you give a certain product….the more expensive it gets……..iphone ist gen is still expensive in saudi arabia and dealers are keeping their stocks, prices for a used one range from SR2000-SR2400 (P24,000-30,000) new one goes from SR3000-up (P36,000-up) and to note, tax-free country ito! and think what you really want in a fone you’re going to buy, not what everybody wants……….then you’ll get the best deal!!!
kaya mahal pa ang iphone 3g dito satin kasi bago pa yan.. antayin nyong mag labas ng bagong iphone ulit sila steve jobs.. panay kayo reklamo at yabangan dyan.. wlang mangyayari sa yabangan at reklamo nyo.. kung namamahalan kayo wag kayong bumili.. kung kya mong bumili ng iphone 3g(regardless kng ilang GB) eh wag kang magyabang dahil hindi iphone ang may pinaka mahal na price na cellphone nu!
for those who are really interested to buy iphones here are the prices:
16gb - 45,000
8gb - 41,000
you can txt or call me at 09189793633.

See the iphone unlock arena in greenhills 2nd floor to those who wants their iphone to unlock…Wants to buy iphone globe see globe outlet services like SM City carpark, Trinoma, MOA, Mega Mall Alimall etc.
ganito lang yan. ang iPhone, pang elite, if you cant afford it, then you can’t. hindi pang masa ang iPhone no.FYI. your paying $199 for a 3G phone, imagine naman yung $400 for a 2G phone. ano pa kaya sa 3G phone, that means you’ll have to be tied up for at least 2 years with plan. grabe kayo, yung ibang phone, para sa MASA, ang iPhone pang ELITE(as told by my business math teacher).
i’m selling my iPhone 3G, 16GB, brand new, black, globe locked. 35k.
call me for faster transaction 0917 8403173
thanks
Why not settle for a Phone that can call and text.
Dont be rip off by some of the people selling iphone 3g. There are some iphone from other countries which are deffective. That’s the reason why they sell it unlock already. Also, you will notice that most iphones which are sold have dead pixel. It is better to invest to iphone w/ warranty from apple.
Be careful!!!!
i heard from globe, they have a post paid plan for the iphone 3G but u have to pay 29K then pay 5h a month minimum for 2 yrs contract..
i planning to buy it this dec as a gift for myself i think it’s worth a shot.. amaze ako sa specs ng phone and the features are amazing.. it’s like all in ONE.. now ain’t that great.. better to invest in something worth the prize rather than have it cheap but then end up in the loosing end..
cia0..jecka!
i got my iphone from my cousin from the US. way way much cheaper than buying it at globe. got it for $199 and that is less than php10k rather than buying it at globe with a price tag of php3+k. globe sucks for that :p
San binili?
I want 1 sobra…
email me pls: alexizmarquez@yahoo.com
Thanks
nyekngek,, i want to know too how dyo got the iphone $199 sa us… thanks..
email me: grch_pit@yahoo.com
