The opening ceremonies of the 84th season of the National Collegiate Athletic Association will be held on June 28, 2008 at the Araneta Coliseum. With the theme “To The Fore at 84”, the first game will be a match up between defending champion San Beda College and Mapua Institute of Technology.  Other teams participating in the opening matches include are Letran College, Jose Rizal University, San Sebastian College, Perpetual Help Dalta System, College of Saint Benilde and Philippine Christian University. MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando, an alumnus of Mapua will be the guest of honor at the opening rites.
