Two days to go and it’s the much-awaited fight of our boxing champ Manny Pacquiao versus American fighter Sugar Shane Mosley.

The fight will be on May 7 (May 8 in Manila) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

The delayed telecast or coverage of the fight will be aired on Solar Sports and GMA 7. ABS-CBN will air the fight live via pay-per-view for Filipinos abroad. Congressman Manny Pacquaio met US President Barack Obama last Tuesday in the White House together with her wife, Jinky, and a private audience.

The boxing champ and his wife had a lunch with US President Obama and Vice-president Biden which was followed by a closed-door meeting among them.

Senate Majority leader Harry Reid, who delivered his privilege speech in the Senate uttering compliments to his last-minute endorser Pacquiao, insisted the meeting. He also noted how Pacquiao largely contribute to his winning against his Republican opponent.

During their meeting, Obama shook hands with Pacquiao. He also acknowledged Pacquiao as his boxing idol and he told that he is a boxing enthusiast.

Obama posed for photos with Pacquiao. He also gave the Jinky and Manny several souvenirs, including a box of M&M chocolates in a white box with the presidential seal.

To note, Pacquiao is the first reigning boxing champion to be invited to the White House and appeared to be a world-class politician upon visiting the White House.

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao claims the World Boxing Council (WBC) super welterweight championship after battering Antonio “Tijuana Tornado” Margarito in Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The welterweight title was an additional to the world’s top pound-for-pound fighter who had already won seven world titles in seven weight divisions to achieve boxing immortality.

Pacquiao landed 474 power punches compared to Margarito’s 229 saving a unanimous decision to the judges in favor of the Filipino.

The fight lasts for 12 rounds making Margarito black and blue of Pacquiao’s punches. Pacquiao, having a little sore in the face, remains resilient until the last seconds of the last round.

“I just do my job, my opponent is not easy. He’s very strong he’s very tough,” Pacquiao said in his post fight interview with ESPN’s Sports Center.

Pacquiao said that he was seeing the opponent’s condition as pitiful that’s why he didn’t throw a knock-out game against Margarito. He even said that he had hoped the referee would stop the fight in the 11th round. Nevertheless, it could be seen Pacquiao’s strong drive from the opening belluntil the last drop.

Meanwhile, the brave Pacman admitted that he encountered hurt in the 6th round when he was hit on the side. But it didn’t made him stop from throwing flurry punches even though Margarito had enter him with blows. With 3 to 4 punches from the Mexican, the Filipino would retaliate with 5 to 6.

All three judges – Juergen Langos, Glen Rick Crocker, and Oren Shellenberger – viewed the fight in Pacquiao’s favor: 120-108, 118-110 and 119-109, respectively.

Reports said leaving the boxing arena is still a question for Pacquiao. What’s sure for now is he will continue his post as Sarangani representative.

Manny Pacquiao is soon to face his fight against the Mexican boxer Antonino Margarito on November 13. However, the title showdown is in the verge of loosing.

California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) denied the request of Margarito to renew his boxing license. After having a 5-1 vote made by the California boxing body, his license was revoked due to handling of plaster-like substance in his hand wraps. This incident is prior to his 2009 encounter with Sugar Shane Mosley at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Margarito’s fight with the Filipino ring icon is his comeback after loosing a fight with Mosley. But the verdict of the body was another damaging blow to his reputation and his boxing career.

Meanwhile, the supposed site for Pacquiao-Margarito bout which is in Las Vegas, Nevada was unavailable because of the ruling of the CSAC.

Moreover, Margarito has applied his license in California but was denied again.

All states in the U.S. abide by rulings from other states, although they are not obligated to do so.

Their team is heading for Texas, hopefully for the third luck. If not, Mexico is an alternative setting aside U.S to file the renewal of his license.
